Buying children presents is never an easy task. Their fads and fancies change like the wind and what you thought was a dead cert often turns into a dead end…Months of Minions are suddenly forgotten for the new craze on the block and on it goes. Woe betide the chancer who gifts the wrong superhero without doing their research first.   But there is one thing that ALL children love and that is something, anything, with their name emblazoned on it. There's nothing more thrilling to a child than ownership, that’s why we give you the option of adding names to our children’s beds as well a..
A good sleep routine during childhood sets the tone for a healthy life…
Did you know that we can survive three times as long without food as we can without sleep?   It’s not something I’m about to set out to prove as I can’t last very long without either to be honest. Skipping breakfast following a fitful night’s sleep is a major game changer for me. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief once I’ve had my granola and 40 winks...   That’s how essential sleep is. It sets the tone for your day, your week and - depending on how you sleep as a child - it can set the tone for your whole life according to Dr Hilary Jones.     This week is Natio..

Children's bedrooms and the great big storage conundrum...
It’s that time of year when many of us get itchy feet around the home, prompting a few subtle changes here and there.   You might decide to reorganise your furniture to breathe new life into an otherwise tired room, or you could simply opt to swap old accessories for new.   This early spring clean might start out in the kitchen before extending into the hallway and the lounge, eventually resulting in a top to toe overhaul of every room in the house!   By the time you reach the children’s bedrooms you have probably discovered your ruthless streak, disposing of anything in you..

So December is here and the madness has just gone up a notch. You’ve got presents to buy for everyone and his dog - then wrap them - a Christmas dinner for 14 to organise and somewhere amongst that lot you must shoehorn in your yearly visits to loved ones, or make space in your home for them to visit you. Phew. The mere thought of it all exhausts me!     Well don’t fret because we’ve got some handy tips to keep your children chirpy and cheerful despite all the upheaval the festive season can bring. Handmade to order painted children's furniture - The keystone to creating a picture perfect bedroom.
When you decide to revamp a child’s room, it can seem like an overwhelming task. After weeks of building yourself up to getting started, you gingerly open the door with the best intentions but having cast your eye over the mountainous mess, promptly close it again. Aaaaand breathe!   Children seem to accumulate so many useless things, so many small things and so many things that don’t seem to belong anywhere in particular. The latter usually reside in a pile in the corner, get crammed under the bed, or stuffed in a drawer and forgotten about forever! Bouncy balls, slinkies, paint-you..
What is handmade to order in the UK, will last you for decades and be used every day?
You can buy a bed on the high street for a little less than we charge at Little Lucy Willow, but will that bed be up to scratch? It might look similar but will it ooze quality, be hard-wearing, prove durable and strong? Will it be a real piece of craftsmanship that you will delight in for decades to come?   Ask yourself:   How long will a high street bed last?   We can’t possibly answer that but we do know that a Little Lucy Willow bed is made from far superior materials to imported goods. All our timbers are hand selected twice, once by the pickers and again by t..
Did you know that our furniture is handmade to order by master craftsmen here in the UK?
Summer presents a great opportunity for us to revel in our many British traditions. To me, it means strawberries and cream, Wimbledon, The Proms and erm, cheese rolling amongst other interesting eccentricities.   We love and delight in them all. Homegrown and timeless, ever present and never ending. They existed when we were children and will continue when we're long gone. Rather like a Little Lucy Willow bed in fact...     Hand made to order in the UK, our children's beds are everything you would expect and probably much more. That's why our furniture bucks the trend. Some ..
Comfy beds for sleepy heads...
After visiting relatives this weekend we endured a nightmare journey home, taking no less than 14 hours...We arrived at our front door shortly before midnight on Sunday. No roast dinner for us, only snacks in the car. No watching ‘Fake or Fortune’ with a glass of red whilst admiring Fiona Bruce and her increasingly futuristic wardrobe. ‘A’ roads and crazy diversions saw to that. It was a very, very, VERY long day. The children were bored to the point of playing ‘I spy’ on the motorway for the 159th time, which, when you’ve done cars, roads and central reservation (they did learn something I su..
